Three MAE students win at the George Hacks medical hackathon

Congratulations to MAE undergraduates Erin Flynn, Abigail DeMassi, and Sebastian Lora for taking home prizes in the George Hacks medical hackathon.  Erin and the Absolute Zero team took First Place for their project, “Adapting Assistive Devices for Use in Burundian Refugee Camp in Tanzania.”  Abigail, Sebastian, and the Innovation DDAS team received the Fourth Place prize for “Redesigning Stores and Shelving for People in Wheelchairs.”

George Hacks was a student-organized event, and was sponsored by: Student Association, School of Engineering and Applied Science (SEAS), Department of Biomedical Engineering (BME), Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering (ECE), Department of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering (MAE), Department of Computer Science (CS), Department of Engineering Management and Systems Engineering (EMSE), the SEAS Career Services Center, the GW Office of Innovation and Entrepreneurship, AdvaMed, the National Capital Region Society of Healthcare, and the Autism and Neurodevelopmental Disorder Institute.  More information on the event is available in the GW Today article “GW Students Innovate at First George Hacks Competition.”
