Fresh from a First Place finish in last year’s SpacePort America Cup intercollegiate rocket competition, the SEAS Rocket Team is preparing for the 2020 competition.

Last year, the SEAS Rocket Team captured First Place in the 10,000-ft Above Ground Level Student Research and Development category of the SpacePort America Cup intercollegiate rocket competition, and Third Place in the related Space Dynamics Laboratory payload competition. The team plans to compete in the same 10,000-ft category this year and has been working to validate its rocket staging and recovery technology at 10,000 feet. Watch the team’s video of its successful first staging test.

The SEAS Rocket Team includes student members from across the school, as well as several physics students from GW’s Columbian College of Arts and Sciences. The team thanks its sponsors, Iridium and Futek.
