Our Academic Programs
The Department of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering offers an array of graduate programs, which cover a broad spectrum of concentrations. Students can enroll in the Master of Science, Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.), or the professional (Engineer, Applied Scientist) degrees. We also offer four-course graduate certificates. All of our programs put strong emphasis on the fundamentals as the basis for specialized expertise in a selected area. Because many technology-related problems facing society today bring multiple disciplines into the solution, these programs also remain flexible, fostering interactions with related disciplines. Our programs prepare you for a career in academia, government, or industry.
Who We Are
The MAE Department is a strong community of faculty and students who work together to generate advances in mechanical and aerospace engineering to address a range of challenges in our world.
What We Do
MAE faculty and students are engaged in cutting-edge research in very diverse areas, such as bio-inspired engineering, bioengineering, energy and sustainability, multiscale modeling and simulation, nanotechnology, mechatronics and robotics, machine design, manufacturing, fluid mechanics, solid mechanics, and materials science. We also are active in research associated with various aspects of aerospace science, including aerodynamics, astrodynamics, aircraft design, flight dynamics and control, propulsion, and aeroacoustics.
